What is a New Year’s Eve wish on Say Wishes?
It is a short message that arrives with its own fireworks. You type who it is for and what you want to say, choose the colors of the night sky and copy one link. When the person opens it, they see a city skyline at night with a clock tower just before midnight, and a glowing ring in the sky that says to tap. Each tap sends a rocket up to the spot they touched, where it bursts into sparks. After the third, a finale lights up the whole sky and your message appears on a card. If tapping is awkward on their screen, a button launches the fireworks for them. There is nothing to install and no account to make.
Why send a wish on New Year’s Eve?
New Year’s Eve is the one night when everyone is looking ahead at the same moment. It is a good time to tell someone what they meant to you this year, or to say you hope the next one is kind to them. Group chats get busy near midnight and plain messages are easy to miss, but a link that does something is more likely to be opened and remembered. It also works for people who cannot be with you: a friend on the other side of the world, a relative who is working a late shift, a partner who is away.
How does it work?
You fill in a name, a message and a style, and the page builds a link that holds everything you wrote. Nothing is stored on a server, so no one sees your message except the people you send the link to. When it is opened, the fireworks play on their own device. The artwork shows no year, so the same wish still makes sense if it is opened a day late or a week early. New Year’s Eve in 2026 falls on Thursday, 31 December, and New Year’s Day is Friday, 1 January.
What should I write?
Keep it short and true. A good New Year’s Eve message does one of three things: it looks back with thanks, it looks ahead with hope, or it makes someone laugh as the clock ticks over. Mention one specific thing if you can, such as a trip, a hard stretch you got through together or a joke only the two of you share. Two to four sentences are enough, and the limit is 280 characters, so every word counts. You can start from one of the ready-made New Year’s Eve messages and change a few words to make it yours.
- For a partner: say what you are looking forward to doing together.
- For friends: be warm and a little funny, and mention the year you had.
- For family far away: say you wish you were there and promise a call after midnight.
- For colleagues: thank them for the year and keep it light.
Can I send it early?
Yes. The fireworks play when the wish is opened, not when it is sent, so you can send the link during the day on New Year’s Eve and let the person save it for midnight. You can also send it afterwards. Because the card says Happy New Year and not a particular year, it still fits on 1 January.
Is it free and private?
It is free, with no account and no email address needed. The message is stored only inside the link you copy, and Say Wishes does not keep a copy. Use a first name and keep to things you would be happy for anyone with the link to read.
Other ways to send a seasonal wish
For the week before, try the Christmas countdown, where the person tears a link off a paper chain. For Christmas night, the Christmas Eve tree is a quiet counterpart. For a whole household, the family music box card carries everyone’s name, and for work, the corporate holiday greeting fits a team.
